Only goes to 10...

I have both of these and the original ABCs of RPGs as well. The ABCs of D&D is a nice update to the original. However, I was really disappointed with the 123s of D&D, as it only goes to 10 and not 20 (you know, because of a d20). Missed opportunity there. After counting to 10, then it goes into rhyming about monsters, which is nice, but I would've rather seen it go to 20.

Cute, for the youngest of D&D fans

This is a very basic, nursery level book of counting from one to ten. It tells the story of three kids in a blended family that play D&D. You need an adult to explain some of the concepts in the book, but it would provide a great chance to talk to kids about role-playing games at their level. My favorite picture in the book is the parents dashing off to the rpg table at the very end. All in all, cute, unoffensive, and a fun romp in the D&D world for the youngest gamers.

Cute book!

So wished the numbers where on the page like the alphabet one. My 4 year old has autism and is absolutely obsessed with the abcs of rpgs book. I bought that book for my husband when my son was born as he is a dm and total nerd. Fast forward 4 years later and my son is obsessed with it. He loves the pictures and pointing to all the letters of the alphabet. I bought this book for Christmas hoping to extend that excitement but he wasn’t ask interested as the numbers weren’t on the page. The illustrations were still very nice but I feel the first book was much better. This one seems a little more thrown together but still fun and recommend it.

Fun, quick read

My son enjoyed sitting down and reading this with me. Got it so that he could get used to numbers, and at the same time share one of my interests (fantasy games). While he doesn't understand what a lot of the creatures are, he did have fun pointing out "unicorn bunny" and "dragon!" as well as identifying the color and shapes of the dice. I liked the glossary of monsters in the back. The only thing I wish the book had done was go to 20, as the icosahedron (20 sided die) is one of the iconic symbols of D&D.

Nerd family loves these!

My husband and I both enjoy DnD and we have a 3 year old daughter who I hope will one day enjoy it as well. These books (we also got the ABCs book) are perfect for her age and are just a pleasure to read to her. The illustrations are wonderful and I appreciate the shorter length. They are not meant to be adventure tales. They are books to learn counting/numbers or the ABCs. A 10 year old is probably not going to enjoy READING these although they may enjoy the illustrations. Perfect for nerdy family with very young children.

Great kid book!

I was a Kickstarter backer of "ABCs of RPGs" and it was super cute and my daughter really liked it. I saw this one on Amazon for pre-order and at first thought "How dare they rip off the 'ABCs of RPGs' book!" but its actually the same folks that made it. So here we are. Really cute book, it goes through counting and has a bestiary in the end. It's fun to read and rhymes. My daughter likes to count on each page.

My 2 Year Old Loves It

For her birthday last year, my two year old received the ABCs of D&D from her uncle and loved it. I decided to get her this book too and she is just as pleased with it. The art is good, it is well written, and I absolutely delight in the fact that it is both teaching her basic numbers and getting her exposed to D&D. Also, the quality of the book's construction seems pretty good.

Great Alongisde the ABC's of D&D, but the weaker of the two.

I bought this book along with the ABC's of D&D. I love them both, but this is definitely the weaker of the two. It simply goes from one to ten and then has a rhyme of a monster manual-esque "beastiary" as an epilogoue. I was hoping for covering numbers up to 20 (seems like a no brainer for D&D) and the beastiary mentions some material like feasting on brains that may offput the more sheepish of children. I still love it, and my 2 yesr old daughter always asks for it after the ABC's, so it's still worth a buy.

Such a fun bedtime ritual that provides something for my daughter that she can't get somewhere else.

My daughter is very into Disney Princesses and My Little Pony and all of that, and while that's fine and dandy with me... I'd like to have something that rounds that out and encourages her to adventure, develop a strong and supportive group of friends, and allow her to imagine and explore beyond the boundaries of established characters and their defined roles within their world. I'd like her imagination to grow with her understanding of herself and D&D is a great outlet for that. This book caught my 3 year old little girl's attention from her first glimpse at the cover and she asks me to read her this and the 123's nightly. It's awesome to have her point out Almiraj (unicorn bunnies with leopard spots), or the Tabaxi (cat people), and even more rewarding to have her take notice of the female wizard who leads and supports her group and helps them by giving them "magic shoes". When she eventually moves on from this book, I'll be storing it in my memory treasure chest forever.

Adventure by the Numbers is an Awesome Way to Learn!

What better time to introduce the magic of role playing and Dungeons & Dragons than during early child development? And what an awesome way to learn and share that magic between a geek mom or dad and their adventurer in training? "The 123's of D&D" is a brilliantly crafted book, filled with bright and colorful pages of the things we all love about the world's greatest roleplaying game. This book is an entertaining way for parents to teach their children colors, numbers, shapes, and the characteristics of heroes and fair play. It was so good, that I contributed to the Kickstarter for my copy of "The ABC's of RPG's," and then bought a copy of "The ABC's of D&D" and "The 123's of D&D" as soon as they were published as well!
